Firewood Alert: Because of the seriousness of a potential infestation from the Emerald Ash Borer, we are requesting that no firewood be brought into South Carolina State Parks from outside of the state.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a destructive invasive exotic beetle that feeds on ash trees. Park campgrounds and picnic areas are the most likely areas for EAB introduction into South Carolina. We appreciate your help in protecting the natural resources of South Carolina and our State Park System.

Description

This 1255-acre park includes a dense maritime forest and an expansive salt marsh where visitors can explore the wonders of nature. The park offers 113 improved campsites, several walk-in tent sites, 7 rental cabins, a day-use area for beach access and a four-mile nature trail that winds through the maritime forest with beautiful vistas overlooking the salt marsh.

Alerts and Important Information
Customers arriving after 5pm must contact the park prior to 5pm to acquire the gate access code. Guest arriving on time will not be presented the gate access code until check-in. Pets are not allowed in the cabins or the cabin area. Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Strictly-enforced quiet hours are from 10PM - 7AM. Alcoholic beverages are PROHIBITED. No one under the age of 18 may register for a campsite or cabin. Please contact the park to reserve ADA (Disabled Access) Standard and Full Service sites.

The park is located on SC Hwy 174 at Edisto Island, 50 miles SE of Charleston, South Carolina. From Hwy 17: take Hwy 174 appx. 28 miles. Day Use Area & Beach Front Campground located to the left upon entering the town limits Live Oak Campground and Cabins located to the right off Hwy. 174 just past park sign. Interpretive Center and Boat Landing located to the right (Palmetto Road)

    Loggerhead Sea Turtle walks every Tuesday and Thursday nights (June, July, and August) by reservations only through the Edisto Beach State Park Environmental Learning Center. Call 843-869-4430.
