Firewood Alert: Because of the seriousness of a potential infestation from the Emerald Ash Borer, we are requesting that no firewood be brought into South Carolina State Parks from outside of the state.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a destructive invasive exotic beetle that feeds on ash trees. Park campgrounds and picnic areas are the most likely areas for EAB introduction into South Carolina. We appreciate your help in protecting the natural resources of South Carolina and our State Park System.

Whether you are interested in sporting dog field trials, retriever events, dog training sites, horse backing riding, or equestrian camping, there is a diverse offering at H. Cooper Black Jr. Memorial Field Trial and Recreation Area. Site amenities include a campground, equestrian facilities, clubhouse, horse trails, kennels and ponds. The site is also a Wildlife Management Area.

Alerts and Important Information
H.Cooper Black has only 27 campsites and all sites are reservable. All campers must be registered. Check in time is 2:00 p.m and check out is 12:00 p.m. No one under the age of 18 years of age can reserve a site. Campers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by someone 18 or older. Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash or under voice command control. Firerings are furnished for campfires.

From Cheraw: Take Hwy. 1 South for approximately 5.6 miles. Turn left onto Society Hill Rd and travel 4.5 miles. Turn right onto H. Cooper Road for 1.3 miles. Turn left onto Sporting Dog Trail.
From Florence: Take Hwy. 52 North. Pass through Society Hill, and travel approximately 3 miles. Turn left onto Society Hill Rd. and travel 3 miles. Turn left onto H. Cooper Road for 1.3 miles. Turn left onto Sporting Dog Trail.
